Dry clean is recommended for the first wash to preserve color and texture. Traditional artisans refresh it by gently hand-rinsing in mild liquid soap, dipping it in light rice starch, and stretching it on a frame (kufu) to restore crispness without machine pressure — stains are dabbed gently with a soft cotton cloth and diluted mild detergent, never rubbed or scrubbed, to protect the delicate motifs.
