Traditional artisans refresh it by gently hand-rinsing in mild liquid soap, dipping it in light rice starch, and stretching it on a frame (kufu) to restore crispness without machine pressure — stains are dabbed gently with a soft cotton cloth and diluted mild detergent, never rubbed or scrubbed, to protect the delicate motifs. Dry in shade rather than direct sunlight to prevent color fading, and iron on a low setting — ideally with a thin cloth placed over any embroidery or zari work.
